The simplest three steps for ink wastewater treatment include pretreatment, biochemical treatment, and advanced treatment

Preprocessing
The main purpose of pretreatment is to remove large suspended particles, ink clumps, and some settleable substances from wastewater. Common techniques include physical precipitation, air flotation, and grid and filtration. Physical precipitation uses the principle of gravity settling to remove large suspended particles; air flotation combines air microbubbles with ink particles in wastewater to achieve solid-liquid separation; grid and filtration initially intercept large debris and protect subsequent treatment units.

Biochemical treatment
Biochemical treatment usually adopts activated sludge method or biofilm method. Activated sludge method uses microbial communities to degrade organic matter in wastewater, suitable for treating wastewater with large fluctuations in organic load; biofilm method uses biofilm attached to a carrier for biodegradation. These methods can not only remove organic matter, but also carry out nitrogen and phosphorus removal, making the effluent meet discharge standards.

Deep processing
Deep treatment is the process of purifying wastewater after biochemical treatment to meet reuse standards. Common techniques include ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis (RO). Ultrafiltration and nanofiltration can effectively remove small particles, colloids, and some large organic molecules from wastewater, preparing for subsequent deep treatment; reverse osmosis further separates soluble salts and organic matter in water through a semi permeable membrane under high pressure, achieving high-purity reuse or zero discharge.
